On Sunday afternoon I found myself sitting in the gardens of Lincoln’s Inn eating a rather expensive ‘traditional’ sausage roll.

I’d gotten up early on my mission to fully take part in ‘Day 2 of London Open Gardens’ but I’d forgotten to eat breakfast. Silly me.

I bought a token for £3, and exchanged it for the said roll. I had asked the woman selling the item to me what was traditional about this roll but she could not quite tell me. She said it was English or something like that. I can recall many of the sausage rolls I have eaten in English establishments, including school and I don’t recall them tasting like this one.

The inside was the right type of savoury and the outside scattered with fennel and poppy seeds. Absolutely gorgeous!

Once I had satisfied my hunger, I was better able to enjoy my surroundings.
