It has been a while since I have attempted to bake what I consider ‘proper’ bread. I made some soda bread earlier in April and I have been making banana breads but I decided last week, it was about time I tried making some homemade bread. A few years ago, I tried my hand at sour dough breads with varying degrees of success. I don’t quite have the mood or the patience for that now, but I do have a cupboard full of yeast….

From left to right, expiry dates, 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021. The 2017 and 2018 versions have now been relagated to the circular file…

The bread making was for the most part successful. It does require me to be in the right mood though, which is patient and full of energy. I’m getting there, watch this space…
