First course today were these cute little banderillas created by my mother-in-law (las manos de Mayti!)

Banderillas- anchovies, gherkins, and artichokes.

A perfect little starter before our main course of Moroccan pastilla (filo pastry filled with chicken and spices and dusted with cinnamon) and salad.

Dessert was a single kaki (persimmon) eaten joyfully with a spoon. I’ve never eaten this fruit before and I am quite liking its mild but pleasant taste. It has the texture of jelly, if it was mixed with string!

It was such a simple lunch and I felt quite full and happy afterwards. Grateful that I have the opportunity to eat and experience different foods. It’s not something I can take for granted anymore.
