It’s a gorgeous Good Friday, that started sunny and bright, perfect for getting out and about.

We decided to try out a ‘new’ Turkish resturant round the corner from us.

We opted for the hot and cold meze platters.

Very filling…

Cold meze platter

Cacik – finely grated cucumber dressed with yoghurt, mint dill, garlic and olive oil.

Tarama – pureed cod roe, olive oil and lemon juice.

Humus – chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice and olive oil

Shaksuka – thin slices of aubergine, potato, tomato sauce, onion and pepper

Pink Lady – Beetroot, yoghurt, garlic, mayo and olive oil

Hot meze platter

Halloumi – Grilled Cypriot halloumi cheese

Sucuk – Grilled Turkish spiced beef sausage

Falafel – mixture of chickpeas & broad bean, fused with spices

Sigara Boregi – homemade deep-fried pastry cigars filled with herbs cheese, spinach and mint

Calamari – fried fresh squid servied with tartar sauce

We managed to polish off the hot meze platter quite quickly. My favourite was the sigara boregi – crunchy, creamy and minty. We somehow didn’t finish the cold platter and so that came home with us!

Well the long weekend is stretching ahead of us, let’s see what that brings…
