Another weekend rolls along. This time we are in the midst of ‘broken boiler’ saga. So it’s cold 🥶 and it’s cold. However I’m not complaining. I have two weeks of annual leave to rest and catch up with the rest of my life. This morning I started with chipping into my admin backlog and correcting two clinic reports while sitting in bed with a little heater on beside me. That did feel a little sad but for me necessary. It is causing me some degree of anxiety and insomnia leaving that work undone. I have broken my rule of not working at the weekend but I can’t think of another way right now.

When I decided to get up, I made myself an indulgent breakfast of French Toast with brioche, a few teaspoons of labneh, sliced banana and a generous drizzling of agave syrup. So nice…

I sat at my dining table in the Saturday morning sunshine eating this meal and drinking a mug of black coffee and remembered just how lucky and privileged we are. It’s a little thing just to sit and eat breakfast but it’s a lot too. Never to be taken for granted again.

Thank you for the reminder. I keep on reminding myself how privilege we are to be able to enjoy these little things — sunshine, hot coffee, delicious breakfast cooked in our kitchen, comfort, safety, family and friends, freedom….Other things are insignificant when we have the important things. Happy Holidays and hope you are enjoying your time off.

Thank you. Yes, the little things are truely the big things right now! I had a restful time on annual leave. Back to work now with the countdown to Christmas.
